The search is on...

It seems what to do after school is a very loaded question at the moment… mostly because I am trying to get in to what I am doing at school vs. planning for the future.  That said when the time comes I as sure I will be happy I thought about it.

When push comes to shove I will need a job after school (preferably teaching) or enough gallery’s selling my work to make ends meet. I have been looking for adjunct positions or long term residencies that are in conjunction with a collage. Ether way I would get teaching experience and be able to be in the studio.

I found some positions for tenure track professors but I seem to be under qualified at this point without college level teaching experience out of graduate school. It also seems like you become a full time teacher with very little time to work in the studio.

Balance is the name of my game.

I looked for teaching experience and found mostly residencies/fellowships….

Philip C. Curtis Artist-in-Residence Program at Albion College seems to be a realistic and well-balanced choice between studio/student interactions. You get a large studio, required artist talk and crits with students, build the resume and hit the ground running after school. Down side is NO MONEY.

Application Package:
One- to three-page proposal
 20 images
CV
Artist's statement

Application Deadline, February 15, 2014

Bemis artist residency offers generous and flexible package to artists: a palatial live/work studio housed in a refurbished warehouse, a $750 monthly stipend for up to 3 months, and access to on-site facilities.
